Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater takes the familiar framework of MGS2 and throws the player out into a whole new and unfamiliar setting. Adding a new jungle setting, the new CQC feature, and the extensive use of camouflage to blend in with your surroundings. The PAL version of the game included the demo theater, additional Snake vs Monkey mini game levels, Duel Mode and international flag facepaints. Content that the rest of the world wouldn't get their hands on until the release of Subsistence.

The standard MGS3 Limited Edition came in a "steelbook" case. However, the platinum limited edition came with the steelbook case, had it's own platinum cardboard sleeve and included the Metal Gear Saga Vol.1 DVD previously only available in the US. The DVD came packaged with Platinum copies of Snake Eater. As far as I know, this was only the case in continental Europe, as I have never seen the DVD come with a UK version. This particular copy is from Germany.
