2007 was the 20th Anniversary of the release of the MSX version of the original Metal Gear. To mark the occasion, Konami decided to release a special boxset containing all of the canon games in the series that were available at the time. Two interesting points to mention about the set are that the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater disc is actually Disc One of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. In essence, it's the same game but Subsistence featured a 3rd person, player-controlled, 360 degree camera which Snake Eater did not. The second point is that the version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops included in the set is the "Premium Version" which was included in the 2 variations of the Portable Ops Premium Pack. This set was only released in Japan. |
