2007 was the 20th Anniversary of the release of the MSX version of the original Metal Gear. To mark the occasion, Konami decided to release a special box set containing all of the canon games in the series that were available at the time. As a result, it contains Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and a special Metal Gear Saga DVD which was later released as Metal Gear Saga Vol.2 in the US and Europe. Two interesting points to mention about the set are that the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater disc is actually Disc One of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and that the version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops included in the set is the "Premium Version" which was included in the 2 variations of the Portable Ops Premium Pack. This set was only released in Japan.
