Yoji Shinkawa has been the lead artist for the Metal Gear franchise for a number of years. This art book features a collection of official works and concept designs for the original Metal Gear Solid. Virtually every picture in the book has details about that particular picture where Shinkawa explains a little about the image. Information such as the reason for picking certain colours or drawing the image in a certain way are printed in Japanese and English below the art. This is the original release of the artbook and not the 1.5 version which also features art for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.
