Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is the expanded re-release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. It features over 350 VR Missions, over 150 alternative missions, 5 new "Snake Tales" and a PlayStation 2 exclusive skateboarding mode. The skateboarding mode is borrowed from Konami's "Evolution Skateboarding" which featured Solid Snake and Raiden as unlockable skaters as well as 2 Big Shell levels that were set up like a skate park. Substance set out to correct the initial backlash regarding the change in main character role for Sons of Liberty and included a whole new list of dog tags implemented into the original story, adding replay value to a game many had already completed many times. The European version of Substance also included "The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2," an interactive making of DVD enabling players to sample the VR Missions included on Substance as well as view concept art, scripts, merchandise, in-game models and take full control of every cut scene in the game.
